It lived up to all the great things I read about it. I am very happy with it. Exceed my expectations.
I recieved this 5 days after ordering from Beach Camera in NJ.(via Amazon)& I'm clear in AZ. I like so many things about this computer. I love the typing key pads where the keys are slightly raised & more distently individual keys. Makes typing more like a keyboard instead of a laptop. It doeas have the left sided number key pad. Not a big thing to me, but maybe is to some. To me sound is good. Now my negetive ...the DVD tray won't come out when button pushed. There is an emergengy bypass, use an unfolded paperclip and put thru a hole & pushes a release. This does work but not acceptable to use this all the time. I had to call in to regristar for warrenty,since this is last years model now, even through it's new. Have to fax proof of purchase before troubles shooting people will talk to me. Has 1 yr warenty from Toshiba from date of purchase. I'm not sure how to proceed from here... Iwill update later. Excellant computer ONLY can't eject DVD tray!!----Talked with every company, I have arranged to send to a Toshiba repair center. Now awaiting shipping box from Fed-X. They say repairs 7-10 days plus shipping time. AZ to Calif shouldn't take too long. Time will only tell.....----OK, I shipped my laptop back to Toshiba for warrenty repair. It was repaired & shipped back to me within hours of them recieving the computer. My total time without computer was 6 days (during Holiday season too). The DVD tray works perfectly now. The burning time is notably faster than what I'm used too.Everyone I talked with at the Toshiba phone number were polite & helpful. The warrenty person was understanding of my new computer not working and was very clear(but not downgrading to me) about what steps could be taken & how to follow though to get my computer fixed.--Since 1st recieving this computer I have fell more in love with this one, some features I really like. The larger viewing screen, just makes viewing videso(the higher the pixal,ofcourse the better),movies better. There is an option to turn off the backlighting of the keys at the top edge of screen. I really like that the touch mouse pad can be made dorminant by a button and easily put back into use. On my old laptop(also a Toshiba) I kept touching of hitting the pad/keys by mistake and it would take me totally somewhere else. Now I no more have that problem!
This is my 5th laptop I have purchased for my kids who are in college. The Toshiba Satellite brand has performed well and proved to be durable and sufficient for a college kid. This laptop will be used by one of my kids who is entering their 4th year of college and needed a bit more power and size screen than others I have bought. The laptop has the right amount of RAM and hard drive space to make college work (and play) easy to handl.
My wife needed a new computer, her desk top was quite old and behind in software. She was always against laptops, thinking that they were to unstable. I went out pricing and comparing then went to Amazon. Found the same lap-top that i was lookin at, at Best Buy and two other computer centers. Amazon's price was 75.00 lower than brick and mortar and had all the bells and whistles added as the competitors, even free 2 day shipping(Arrived on time) and 12 months free financing. All brick and mortar could not come close. My wife has been extemely happy with her first laptop, including the large screen (hey, to each his/her own). I love Amazon!!!!!
Excellent widescreen notebook PC! Setup, netwoor connection, software updates, etc. all went smoothly. Good processor speed. We've been using it for about three weeks, and have had no issues or complaints.
