This is the best laptop Ive ever had, it does everything I need faster than i need it to. 720 HD display, 3 USB ports, an HDMI port, sd and pro duo ports. And about its durability...last night my friend spilled an entire cup of hennessy/hypnotiq directly on and into the laptop. Everything continues to work fine.
This computer is budget friendly ; not high end, but delivers good color, good sound, and I liked the raised keyboard. Amazon was true to their word with the on time delivery. I honestly can't give a 5 because I don't have it long enough to know it's longivity and long term performance, but, if it's anything like my other Sony Viao I'll be adding the other star. For the money it does a fine job.
I bought this because it was cheap and i just needed something to play around with and write code on. Also I am giving it a 5 because my paint has NOT chipped off. Therefore, this laptop is worthy of a 5.On a serious note... Intel has long been surpassing AMD in quality of CPUs. Though AMD is much cheaper. I needed a multi-core processor for my concurrency/parallel programming course, and my old laptop a Dell XPS died. The HD that it comes with is small. I was not worried about that, because that is an easy upgrade. The things you can`t upgrade in your laptop, the cpu, the video card, the feel, etc. Those are the things I was more concerned about. It was a toss up though, I was not sure if i should get this or a Toshiba Satellite. If you`re looking for a dependable laptop in the <$600 range, then this is for you. If you`re looking for some hardcore machine to run 3d imaging software on, then you should not be shopping in the <$600 range now should you. Aesthetically it`s a nice machine to look at to, then again if you`re very concerned with aesthetics, go spend the extra $500 and go get a mac and quit your crying.
I think this is an Excellent computer. Fast, reliable, and unlike some complaints, wasn't loaded with Office ?? Has the free starter version you can activate. Excellent sound, 4gb ram, good video, excellent picture, and has HDMI output for my big Tv. Glad I bought it over the $900 rival.
The money is certainly right on this deal... though let me warn you that these machines are extremely poorly built. Within one month, my machine treated windows updates like a viral infection. Each time I downloaded an update, my machine would take 15 mins to start up, 15 mins to log in and then proceed to crash due to an unexpected error. I installed my own, non-OEM copy of Win7 Ultimate which dulled the pain of this worthless trash for about 3 months. Today, I've spent 5 hours restarting, troubleshooting, hopelessly trying to narrow down the problem. My Vaio will not even run safemode without crashing. The problem is the laptop. It is a worthless piece of crap. I wish I would have read the reviews
The Sony Vaio VPCEE32FX/BJ 15.5 LED, AMD Athlon II Dual Core P340 (2.20GHz), 4GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, Windows 7 is a good laptop except for the Windows 7 (it sucks - Microsoft wants to run your computer their way and not yours). The computer comes with Office 2010 installed and there is no way to uninstall or delete it (there goes 10 gig of your hard drive).
I bought two sony vaios in the same month because they were known for quality products, for two months they were great, then my hard drive wipped it's self clean witch sucked becouse i had a lot of pictures and music on them, but such is life... it has been in the process of being repaired for 4 months now! it is under warranty and should be returned to me in the next couple weeks, i've been hearing that same line for four very irritating months now, i'll never buy another sony product again, poor customer relations and really bad service, when i called there support line (8 differnt times cause they never call back) they were from the phillapiens and there was no real way to talk to someone in the states unless you call the sony style store and they tell you to call customer service, and now you've gone full circle. If you happen to get connected with "Elivis" he seems to be the only compotent person who will tell you strait up what's going on... problably fired now. good luck on your hunt p.s. the other vaio i bought is going just fine, just hope i don't need it serviced or i may just go mad.
