Pros: good speed, fast start up, great (but not amazing) speakers and a really nice physical design.Cons: short screen size makes it hard to view certain documents and websites; the screen has really terrible viewing angles and you can only see it if it is perfectly parallel to your face. This was a decent laptop and I enjoyed using it for three weeks. Then it stopped working (would no longer power on). Dealing with Toshiba customer service has been frustrating as many of the representatives hang up randomly and their English is very difficult to understand. It will cost $25 to ship the laptop to their repair facility and I was warned that there is a chance my files will be wiped. Quite the annoyance for a laptop I bought just three weeks ago and only used lightly.

I tested this laptop for a couple of weeks last month. The integrated intel GPU seems to have odd problems with ultra wide resolution. Productivity-wise, it stutters and nearly chokes to death on Adobe CS6, and Avid. For $1000, Toshiba could have put in the cheapest integrated GPU from nVidia or Ati(AMD) and this would have been a fantastic mobile multi-media laptop for the graphics/video productivity crowd. Instead, Toshiba took a fantastic ultra wide screen and a decent mobile i5 processor and then crippled it with VERY bad intel graphics. What a pity. This could have been a great laptop, and that's a shame b/c Toshiba was first to market with this format of laptop. The Backlit keyboard is quite nice though, as is the metal housing.USB 3.o is crazy fast!<<<UPDATE>>> Decided to do a complete re-install of the OS, opting for Windows 7 Pro, all new up to date drivers, and a better video codec pack. I am happy to report that Full-HD video now runs nice and crisp! Adobe CS6, Vegas, and Avid still make it choke, but it will not freeze-up anymore. Forget gaming on this machine, it'll be a waste of time. Intel graphics are simply awful, no way around it. Sure Toshiba states that it is compatible with Direct X 11 games, but when the framerates, even at the lowest settings are well below 24fps, games become unplayable. I give three stars b/c of the innovative screen format and after some modification it can actually be a fantastic video player.Keep in mind though, for much less than a $975.oo, one can get a full featured 14" standard laptop with FAR superior specifications and only have gained approximately 1/4" in height.Think about it.
