I just purchased this computer two days ago, so I may update this in the future. My previous laptop was a Dell Inspiron 15.6" core 2 duo. I wanted more RAM to do some non-pro video editing, and an update to one of the newer processors, and I wanted a 17.3" screen. In the end, I had to decide what was more important to me - a larger, good quality screen or a processor that was probably faster than I needed, but wouldn't be obsolete for a good while - i.e a 15.6" i5 or a 17.3" i3. I went with the latter, and I'm definitely not sorry so far. The picture quality of the screen on this computer is gorgeous - crisp, clear and sharp, and well-lit. The keyboard has nice big keys, though they're flat & I'd ideally prefer slightly raised, but I don't think I'll mind, since they're so large. I won't be using the number pad, but it's nice to have if you are someone who will use it. The speakers have so far surprised me - they're at least twice as good (and twice as loud) as the ones on my Dell. I wasn't expecting anything great as far as speakers, so it was a nice bonus. Connecting to my wi-fi involved putting in the password & hitting the Enter key, and I was on. Same with my wireless printer, quick and easy. I already notice a difference in the speed of FB flash games, etc., loading. I haven't put it through its paces yet with any photo or video editing. I will update if it *isn't* great, otherwise I'm assuming it'll be fine for my needs. Two things I'm not crazy about (only two!) - the mouse buttons are *hard* compared to the Dell. I'll get used to it and/or it'll loosen up with time, I guess. Also, when you are running on battery in the balanced mode, the screen dims from full brightness and I haven't found a way to bring it to full brightness without plugging it in. I don't like that. Otherwise, everything has worked smoothly so far. It's a nice machine with a great screen and speakers, at a great price (I bought it at a store & paid slightly less than Amazon's price, but the state sales tax sort of evened that out).
