    1. Mr. Santa gave me this laptop. I must have been good because this is one very nice unit. I would have been happy with a 14" pc. In fact, I kept dropping hints that a quad 4 processor would have been nice. (I recently passed on my Sony Vaio laptop to my son despite the fact that I had it for 5 months.......another story for another review.)The facts. The i7 processor is fast. Think of this as the next step in navigation on the old information highway. They've added ramps, bypasses, and express lanes. I am using this laptop for private use only, but it retrieves what I need quickly. It has decent/generous storage. While I will continue to perform my regular maintenance procedures (old habits die hard), this certainly gives me a whole lot more space than I need.I loaded all my old files on this laptop, lots of utilities I use, pictures, music, etc. and it barely made a dent re: what this laptop will accommodate. For a low price range laptop, this offers a lot of value. This laptop seems lighter, but at approx. 7 lbs. I doubt if I'"ll be hauling it with me when I travel since I have far more compact devices that I travel with. The sound this laptop delivers is good. Ditto for the screen resolution. I have no complaints since it is way better than the Vaio. The essential thing you must do before using any new pc is to read the manual that comes with it. It clears up a lot of questions and makes the process easier to deal with. Another complaint another user had was the support from India. Since I had a Dell Mini, I found the foreign support difficult as well though I have yet to need support for this specific machine. Unfortunately I wish companies such as Dell would realize that home grown tech support would be appreciated, but it's not happening anytime soon.I don't like the cover. It smudges. I think the smudgy cover is deliberate. The R series Dell laptops have snap tops that can be changed out. For a mere $29 a pop, you can get an interchangeable cover/lid in any number of whimsical colors and designs. My Santa supplied a purple one which discourages smudges. I'm probably going to join the legion of fashionistas and do some further customization to match my many moods. There are many pc brands out there and lots of price ranges. If you want to upgrade a bit, this pc is a good choice. I have had no negative issues with it.

    2. I have had this new computer for about a month now and have zero complaints. It comes with 6gb of memory, but I maxed it out at 8gb. It replaced basically it's older brother that I had for two years as well. Had zero complaints with that one other than it was a little slower and seemed to burp in certain applications in IE8. I don't know what to say to express my satisfaction other than what I have already. Love the USB3 ports. Love the weight. It uses the same AC adaptor as it's older brother as well and since it is so light, is easily transportable in my bookbag for the RV and School. It's definitely the fastest processor I've ever experienced and I have tried to mulititask it out but have been unable to. I feel it's truly the best laptop I've ever had. The i5 processor is amazing and although my previous laptop had the same processor, this one is noticeably faster. The sound is also a lot better than it's earlier model as well. Really great for a laptop!!Cons: If there were any might be the indication lights are a little hard to see on the front and the keyboard palm area could use some sort of non-smudging surface of some kind.Definitly a great unit and I'd recommend it to most folks

    3. I love this computer! Unfortunately, dell support in India did a poor job of providing technical advise. When I plugged the power cord in, no indicator light like all of my corporate laptops. When I called, the Dell tech he could barely speak english and came to the conclusion that the laptop needed to be returned. It turned out that the indicator light goes out when fully charged. Once I figuered this out, I was happy. What I learned from this experience was that Amazon sells the product then runs. If it is defective upon arrival, you are in Dell's hands. Amazon is not giving you another one. The only thing Amazon was interested in was whether or not it was packaged right.I always buys Dell computers and will not make this mistake again. I will buy directly from Dell. I love my Dell!
